# How your SmartHome LGX behaves during a power failure or low-battery situation

## The SmartHome LGX will keep working during a power failure thanks to its internal battery. This guide explains what to expect.

**When mains power fails**

**The unit will:**

- Switch to internal battery
- Flash the green LED
- Announce: “Power failure, check power cord.”

**Battery runtime**

- Typically 38+ hours on a full charge
- Higher usage reduces runtime

**When power returns**

You’ll hear: “Power restored.”  
The unit automatically starts to recharge the battery.

**Low-battery warnings**

**At ~20% remaining, expect:**

- Flashing orange fault light
- Possible voice prompts
- Warning sent to INS LifeGuard

**Important**

Ensure the battery switch, located next to where the power cord is plugged in, is ON or it will not charge.
