  • iPhone 11 or later with iOS 26 or later

Before you begin

  • Ensure your phone is updated to the latest version of iOS. To do this:
    • Go to the Settings app on your iPhone
    • Tap General
    • Tap Software Update.
  • Make sure that your iPhone has Bluetooth turned on, and it’s connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular network: To check this:
    • Swipe down from the top-right corner of the iPhone screen to open Control Center.
    • Ensure that Bluetooth Icon-Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (or Cellular  ) are highlighted.

Alternatively search for INS LifeGuardian® in the App Store and open the corresponding app.

Once INS LifeGuardian® has been installed, open the App and follow the below steps:

  1. Follow the On-Screen prompts as it walks you through information about INS LifeGuardian® and how it works, and then click Login or Register.
  2. Enter your mobile number
  3. Click Verify.
  4. Enter the 6 Digit Code that was sent to your mobile number.
  5. This will log you into your account, if one exists, or create one if you're new.
    • If there are multiple people on the same file, e.g. Husband and Wife, it will ask you to select which person is logging in. Ensure the correct person is selected.

Turn on and pair your Apple Watch

  1. Put your Apple Watch on your wrist.
  2. To turn on your Apple Watch, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo. NOTE: If your Apple Watch doesn’t turn on, you might need to charge the battery.
  3. Hold your iPhone near your Apple Watch, wait for the Apple Watch pairing screen to appear on your iPhone, then tap Continue.

You can also go to the Apple Watch app Icon-AppleWatchApp on your iPhone, then tap Pair New Watch.

  1. Tap Set Up for Myself.
  2. When prompted, position your iPhone so that your Apple Watch appears in the viewfinder in the Apple Watch app. This pairs the two devices.

Set up your Apple Watch

  1. Tap Set Up Apple Watch, then follow the instructions on your iPhone and Apple Watch to finish setup.
  2. Follow the onscreen instructions to set up the following:
  • Sign in to your Apple Account.
  • Create a passcode—either a standard four-digit passcode, or a long passcode, which requires six digits.
  • Customize settings for text size, optionally enter personal information such as date of birth and height that are used for fitness and health, and choose the health notifications you want to receive.

You can change these settings after you’ve set up your Apple Watch.

Activate cellular service

You can activate cellular service during setup. If you don’t wish to, you can activate it later in the Apple Watch app Icon-AppleWatchApp on your iPhone.

INS LifeGuard strongly recommends using this if you can, as it allows your Apple Watch to work away from your Phone without relying on it for connectivity, which allows you to get help on your wrist, even if you left your phone at home.

Note: Cellular service is currently only available with Telstra, Optus or Vodafone.

Keep your devices close as they sync

Your Apple Watch shows the watch face when syncing finishes and your watch is ready to use.

To learn more about your Apple Watch while it’s syncing, tap Get to Know Your Watch. You can learn what’s new, view Apple Watch tips, and read this user guide, right on your iPhone. After your Apple Watch is set up, you can find this information by opening the Apple Watch app Icon-AppleWatchApp on your iPhone, then tapping Discover.

Setting up INS LifeGuardian®

After successfully logging into INS LifeGuardian® you will be greeted with a Popup about your Subscription.

  • If INS LifeGuardian® is being funded on your behalf, you can click the X in the top corner of the window to go to the home screen.
  • If you are paying for INS LifeGuardian® out of pocket, you can Subscribe here to get access to a month free trial, which you can cancel at any time, to test all the features.

Once this has been done, you will be on the Home Screen and will have a list of tasks to complete for setup. These are things such as Permissions that are required to be granted to allow INS LifeGuardian® to always function correctly, especially during an Emergency.

Setting up Health Permissions

Click on the Health Tab along the bottom of the screen. If this is the first time you have opened this tab, it will ask you to connect Apple Health with INS LifeGuardian® and grant permissions. Click Ok.

You will be asked to grant the permissions of the different Health Data that INS LifeGuardian® can read and write from Apple Health. Click Allow All and then Click Approve in the top right of the screen.

This will give INS LifeGuardian® the ability to read all your health data and the Nurses will be able to start monitoring you.

If you wish to not be notified of the alerts for non-normal readings, you can disable these from showing:

  • Click on Settings in the bottom right of the screen
  • Click on App Settings
  • Turn off Abnormal Vital Sign Notifications for everything, or just the ones you do not wish to be notified of.

NOTE: The data will still come through to INS LifeGuard

Setting up INS LifeGuardian® on Apple Watch

Once INS LifeGuardian® has been downloaded and installed on both the Apple Watch and your iPhone, open INS LifeGuardian® on both devices, so they are both active and open. This will allow them to sync together and ensure that you are able to push Help on your Apple Watch if needed. It will also allow you to grant permissions for Falls Sensor and Car Crash Detection.
