How to install your SmartHome LGX

It's easy to self-install the SmartHome LGX. Simply follow the instructions below, or ask a friend or family member to assist.

LGX Quick Installation Guide

  1. Remove the LGX and power supply from the box. Find a suitable location to place the LGX. There must be a power point easily accessible. Do not choose a damp location, such as a bathroom, or near any heat source, such as an oven or stove top.

  2. If the SIM is not already installed, insert it into the SIM card base (slot) at the back of the unit, notch first and gold chip side facing up.

  3. Plug the power supply into a power point, then plug the other end into the DC Jack. Then switch the black battery switch on by pushing it to the right to power the unit up. (See step 5 below for the Battery Switch location).

  4. If supplied, screw the antenna into the back of the unit using the two antenna terminals, then swivel them to point straight up in the air.

  5. The Battery Switch on the LGX must be set to ON (slid to the right) to ensure the backup battery is used. If the battery switch is set to OFF (slid to the left), the battery will not charge and will not serve as a backup power source during a power outage.

  6. The pendant or wrist transmitter should already have been pre-configured. (If not, see the User Guide for instructions on how to program the transmitter.) Perform a test by pushing the button on the transmitter. Walk around to various rooms and test again to identify any limitations within the home. Note: It is not always possible to receive a signal in every location in the home as local interference plays a role in the transmission of the device.

  7. The system will announce that the alarm has been received after you test the transmitter. Please wait for an INS operator to call back via the unit and address you via loudspeaker. Clearly state your name and that you are testing. Should voice contact fail, the operator will attempt to call via the landline or mobile number. If you do not receive a call, please contact INS LifeGuard on 1800 636 226.

  8. Once the unit has tested successfully, please test daily for the first week, then monthly thereafter. We recommend you test on the date of your birth each month so it's easy to remember.
